David M. Canaski

President

B.S. Business Administration/Management – Canisius College

Dave has been at the leading edge of financial aid and regulatory issues through his almost forty years of professional experience. His resume includes eleven years as the Director of Financial Advisement at the State University of New York College at Cortland, and seven years as Corporate Director of Financial Aid at Bryant & Stratton College. Considered one of the industry’s leading authorities, Dave has been asked to speak or train by many distinguished groups, and has been interviewed by major media outlets. Dave has also served as an advisor to four student loan lenders and two guarantee agencies. As president of NYSFAAA, he served during the “investigation” of student lending by the N.Y. Attorney General’s Office. He was widely recognized for his effective, no-nonsense leadership during that tumultuous time. Since 2007, he has led FA Experts® in helping hundreds of Colleges and schools to develop enhance their financial aid operations and improve their compliance.

Karen T. Taylor

Executive Vice President

B.S. School of Education and Human Development – Binghamton University

Karen has extensive experience in building effective, compliant, customer-friendly processing systems that promote recruiting and retention. She has over thirty-five years of experience in higher-education administration, including sixteen years at the State University of New York College at Cortland, where she was instrumental in the creation of one of the most effective, efficient, and customer-friendly financial aid offices in the Northeast. Karen has served on numerous advisory boards, and has held many positions with professional associations, including service as President of the SUNY Financial Aid Professionals association. She has frequently presented at professional conferences and training sessions, and has been recognized by her peers numerous times through professional association awards. Karen’s caring and professional demeanor also makes her the ideal trainer for both new and experienced financial aid staff.
